PDP flays Osun govt over closure of tertiary institutions

THE leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has condemned what it called the insensitivity of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led government in the state to the demands of striking lecturers in its tertiary institutions, describing the action as apathy to educational development of the state.
In a press statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the party in Osun State, Mr Diran Odeyemi, a copy of which was made available to Saturday Tribune, the PDP said it was saddening and pathetic that the institutions in Osun, namely, College of Education, Ilesa; College of Education, Ila Orangun; Osun State Polytechnic, Iree and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, had been shut down by the government, “almost two months ago, without consideration for the interest of students and parents with children in the institutions.”
PDP said it was only “a wicked government that would allow students to turn themselves to thugs and marauders on the roads of the state.”
