The actress, singer and philanthropist started her acting career with the film Venom of Justice in 1995.
International news magazine, TIME, released its
annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The list
which is divided into artists, leaders, pioneers, titans and icon had
Nollywood actress, Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde as one of its icons.
Some of the others on the honors list with are Michele Obama, Beyonce, Kate Middleton, and the Chinese tennis star, Li Na.
Omotola who began her acting career with the film, Venom of Justice
(1995), is one of the most successful actresses in Africa. She has
starred in blockbuster movies like Games Women Play, Blood Sisters, All
My Life, Mortal Inheritance, Ije, and recent chart-topper Last Flight To
Abuja, amongst others.
In 2005, Omosexy, as she is fondly called by her fans launched her
music career. She currently stars in her own reality show, Omotola, The
Real Me on DSTV’s Africa Magic Entertainment. As a philantophist,
Omotola works with international NGOs like Amnesty International and
also runs her own foundation, Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme
(OYEP).
